Governor Sonny Perdue announced January 2, 2007 the appointment of Bob Keller of Jonesboro to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. He will replace Dr. Eugene Walker, whose term expired December 31, 2006 . Walker was appointed by Governor Roy Barnes and has served since May, 1999. Keller's appointment is effective as of January 2, 2007 and expires on December 31, 2013 .

"Bob Keller's front line experience in our judicial system makes him a standout addition to the Board of Pardons and Paroles," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "Bob is highly respected in the judicial community, and I am confident that he will serve admirably, just as Dr. Walker did during his service on the Board."

A brief biography of Bob Keller follows:

Robert "Bob" E. Keller, J.D., 59, Jonesboro - Keller most recently served as executive counsel of the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia (PAC). He also previously served as chairman of the organization. Before joining the Prosecuting Attorneys Council, he served as both assistant district attorney and district attorney of Clayton County . He also maintained a private practice from 1974 to 1977. Keller served as vice-chair of the Governor's Commission on Certainty in Sentencing, and as a member of the Georgia Board of Public Safety, the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Judicial Retirement System, the Georgia Code Revision Plan Committee and the Commission to Assess Crime Laboratory Needs into the 21st Century.

He is a Sunday School teacher, choir member and administrative board member of the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church . Keller earned a bachelor's degree from Birmingham Southern College and a law degree from Emory Law School . He and his wife, Tec, have two grown children, Elizabeth and Adam.
