The District Attorneys' Association of Georgia and the Georgia Association of Solicitors-General announced their picks for the state's top prosecutors for 2010 at the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia's annual Summer Conference.
This year, four outstanding members of the prosecutorial community were recognized as the Solicitor-General, Assistant Solicitor-General, District Attorney, and Assistant District Attorney of the Year. The Georgia Association of Solicitors-General recognized Dick Shelton of Lowndes County as Solicitor-General of the Year and Sandy Wisenbaker of Coweta County as Assistant Solicitor-General of the Year. The District Attorneys' Association of Georgia recognized Leigh Patterson of the Rome Judicial Circuit as the 2010 District Attorney of the Year. Jeff Ballew of the Douglas Judicial Circuit was named the 2010 Assistant District Attorney of the Year.
Two other awards were given at the 2010 Summer Conference. Helen P. Bradley, who recently retired from her position as Victim Witness Director in the Eastern Judicial Circuit, received the Victims' Services award. This was the inaugural year of the award and it has been named the Helen P. Bradley Victims' Services Award in honor of Bradley, who has devoted her life to serving victims of crime.
The Georgia Arson Control Board presented an award to David McDade, District Attorney of the Douglas Judicial Circuit for his outstanding efforts to fight and prosecute arson in his circuit.
