Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia has partnered with LexisNexis for usage of the LexisNexis online legal research system. The agreement with LexisNexis provides prosecutor offices in Georgia who employ state-paid attorneys and state-paid investigators with Lexis userids to access State Legal (“Georgia Enhanced” database), National Legal (“Pure Lexis” database), and premium Public Records Materials (“SmartLinx” menu with Law Enforcement Solutions Page access). Additional information about each of these tools is as follows:
 

State Legal and Non-Legal

The “Georgia Enhanced” database on lexis.com provides all Georgia legal (Georgia, 11 th District, and US Supreme Court cases, statutes, legislative, and secondary materials) and many non-legal materials (news, UCC filings and other public records). This also includes Shepard’s citations.

National Legal

The “Pure Lexis” database on lexis.com includes the LexisNexis library of cases, statutes, rules, regulations and other primary legal materials from all U.S. state and federal jurisdictions. This also includes Shepard’s citations.

Public Records and Investigative Tools

SmartLinx on lexis.com is a powerful investigative tool that allows users to sift through a myriad of public records materials with a single search. Another way to access SmartLinx is to use the Law Enforcement Solutions Page. The Law Enforcement Solutions Page is a one-stop source for law enforcement, investigators, or anyone else who is interested in conducting an investigation to access all of the investigative tools available on lexis.com.

An important reminder is that onsite training classes conducted at your office by LexisNexis representatives is also included as part of the agreement. Training can be customized on any topic to meet the needs of beginning, intermediate, and advanced users. Each session lasts one hour and is eligible for CLE credit in Georgia. All of the above tools and training are provided to prosecutor offices at no cost as a service of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council.
